LA Area Downey
April 29, 2010 Workers Memorial Day Event
Stand Up For Injured Workers
And Workers Killed On The Job
Workers Memorial Day is held every year in April to commemorate all those workers killed and injured on the job.
Movie, Kaiser and LACOE Workers at the Downey toxic dump site and community members have been greatly affected by thefailure to properly clean up the former super-fund site. The Downey Kaiser Hospital complex has been built on one of the most toxic sites in the Los Angeles area and hundreds
of workers have been sickened as a result of the failure of the developer Stuart Lichter to properly clean up the site and also the failure of Federal and state regulatory agencies to properly regulate health and safety protection along with enforcing fraud violations because of workers comp cost shifting by the developer and companies.
Today this deadly toxic dump site continues to harm workers who are on or next to the site and people in the community. At the same timethe crooked developer Stuart Lichter is seeking to get Tesla Motors Inc. to build a "green" electric auto assemblyplant on the site with $465 million in Department of Energy loans.
Please join with LA workers and their families at this memorial meeting and speak out and demand healthcare and justice for all workers and people in the community.
